James has been with First NZ Capital and its predecessors since 1994. During this time James spent two years in the London office of Credit Suisse First Boston, servicing London, European and Middle Eastern clients on New Zealand Equities.

James is an extremely experienced institutional professional. He is responsible for the firm’s purchasing activity in share buybacks and is regularly called on to execute a wide range of sensitive mandates for our institutional clients.

Alana has recently returned to NZ after spending more than fifteen years working in US, Hong Kong and Australian financial markets. She provides local and international clients with research sales service, and corporate clients with international investor relations advice.

Alana spent the past 4 years working for Deutsche Bank in Hong Kong, providing Asian-based long only and hedge fund investors with Australian/NZ research sales coverage and providing investor relations advice and assistance to Australian and NZ corporates.

Prior to that she worked for Deutsche in Sydney for 4 years covering the Australian and NZ client base. Before this she spent a decade in New York, initially doing consumer/retail M&A for JP Morgan and latterly as Trade Commissioner for NZTE.

Dwane is responsible for hedge fund sales.

After commencing his career with First NZ Capital in equity research, he spent 3 years with Credit Suisse in New York where his primary focus was sales coverage of US-based hedge funds. He then joined Deutsche Bank in Sydney where he was charged with hedge fund sales coverage across all regions including the US, Europe and Asia.

Dwane brings a wealth of experience to the team and is a CFA® charterholder.

After some time away from the firm Phil returned in 2013 and is now focused on promoting both listed and unlisted companies within New Zealand.

Mike came to First NZ Capital from Fonterra where he spent 4 years as the Senior Trader in their Commodity Risk and Trading team. During his time at Fonterra he developed a strong understanding of both the local and global dairy industry. Mike’s experience, knowledge and network of contacts allows him to make informed comment on the sector, to assist clients in their decision making process.

In addition to his time in dairy Mike has had 15 years in financial markets, including 10 years with UBS, based both in New Zealand and London.

Mike is a Chartered Accountant, an NZX Derivatives Adviser and an Authorised Financial Adviser.

Daniel joined FNZC in August 2016. Prior to joining FNZC Daniel spent six years in an institutional equity sales role, including two years based in Sydney, focused on the New Zealand and Australian markets. Prior to his sales role, Daniel was an institutional equity research analyst for three years covering a range of NZX listed companies.

David joined the First NZ Capital Institutional desk in 2012 as Head of Facilitation and Risk.

Prior to this he worked for almost 10 years at UBS on the institutional desk focusing on Australasian equity sales.

David is a very keen golfer and represented New Zealand in the sport from 1995 - 1997. He won the NZ Amateur Golf Championship in 1996 and finished 5th in the 1996 Eisenhower World Amateur Championships.

Todd joined the Institutional Equities business of First NZ Capital in 2003 and has now progressed to a Sales Trading role to our New Zealand and Australian institutional client base.

He previously worked as a chartered accountant in industry in both Melbourne and London.

Todd is the Captain, Coach and President of the University Australian Rules Football Club and is the New Zealand Recruiting Scout for Hawthorn Football Club (AFL).

Gareth joined FNZC in 2016 after spending the last decade as a senior trader at Deutsche Bank and the decade before at Credit Suisse in London, Sydney and Singapore.  Much of his career has been focussed on the interest rate markets – most recently Gareth ran both the NZD and AUD interest rate swap books for Deutsche Bank and has extensive experience in the US rate market.

Gareth is building an interest rate trading business for FNZC, expanding our footprint in global markets and extending the expertise and product offering we can provide to clients.

Harry studied at the University of Otago, receiving a Bachelor of Commerce (Double Major Economics & Marketing Management). While at University Harry was also involved in the High Performance Sporting programme at the Otago Institute of Sports finishing with qualifications in High Performance Sports Leadership from Otago Polytechnic.

He commenced his career at NZX where he worked in a range of roles leading up to his last as Sales & Market Development Manager where he focused on growing NZX’s derivatives business.

Harry joined First NZ Capital in 2016 as part of the derivatives team.
