First NZ Capital Securities Limited (FNZC) has today completed its acquisition of ANZ Securities as part of its strategy to enhance its offering for self-directed investors.
The investment platform has been renamed Direct Broking and now offers free access to equity research from Shareclarity.
CEO James Lee says an important aspect of the acquisition is the creation of a strategic alliance with ANZ. He says that while the sale of ANZ Securities has been completed, ANZ will continue to offer Direct Broking clients access to fixed income investment opportunities such as new bond issues as part of the strategic alliance.
We’re well on our way to making FNZC the leading capital solutions provider in New Zealand. The Direct Broking platform is part of this strategy and we have big plans for it. Over time more investment tools and products will be added to create a place where investors can access everything they need to make their own well-informed decisions and then be able to execute them.
We’ve already added Shareclarity, but I’m excited about what we will build for clients.
Shareclarity provides real-time research on companies listed in New Zealand, Australia and Hong Kong, as well as access to stock screens, newsletters, mobile alerts, company descriptions, chat forums and annual reports.
Mr Lee says,
Shareclarity covers a wide range of companies and are adding more every day. Direct Broking is the only platform in New Zealand that offers Shareclarity free to clients. We are working with them to develop new research products specifically for the self-directed investors that use it.
Our Head of Direct Wealth, Fiona Mackenzie, and her team have worked hard to transition ANZ Securities to FNZC and to form our partnership with Shareclarity.
ANZ Institutional New Zealand Managing Director Paul Goodwin says,
We are excited about our strategic alliance with FNZC and the benefits that it will deliver to both ANZ and FNZC customers.
FNZC’s Direct Broking platform will give ANZ customers access to FNZC’s market leading equities capabilities. At the same time, the alliance will allow more investors access to ANZ’s market leading debt capital markets business.
